Sound Testing
Based in Nairn, and offering sound testing in Moray, Aberdeenshire, and the Highlands.
My name is Tim Dyke, and I formerly jointly ran and carried out sound testing under my old company name of Highland Air Tightness Testing Ltd (or HATT for short), along with my good friend Stephen. I have now brought everything together under the trusty umberella of Geodata Survey Ltd to provide a comprehensive, professional and friendly service. I am always happy to discuss projects over the phone, and can often schedule a site visit quickly and follow up with results and reports timeously.
I am a qualified Sound Insulation tester, and a member of SITMA (Sound Insulation Testing and Measurement Association). With over 10 years experience as a sound tester, I have carried out airborne and impact sound tests on hundreds of new build and existing buildings. Separating walls are tested with airborne sound, and dividing floors are tested with both airborne and impact sound. A comprehensive sound test report of the results is generated, and emailed to clients, ready for them to submit to Building Control.
For enquiries please call Tim on 07594 665 668 or email testing@geodatasurvey.com.

Separating walls and dividing floors between properties are tested with airborne sound. The speaker produces around 100dB of Pink Sound in the source room, and the amount of sound passing through the partition, over a range of frequencies, to the adjacent receiving room is measured with the Sound Level Meter.
Dividing floors in flats, as well as being tested with airborne sound, are also tested with impact sound. A Tapping Machine is positioned on the floor of the upper flat, and the amount of impact sound passing through the floor partition to the flat directly below is measured with the Sound Level Meter.
The tapping machine has a number of small hammers on the underside, which strike the floor in a regular, precise and calibrated manner, to create the impact sound.
